Pride

*
II Chronicles 32:25,26 But Hezekiah rendered not again
according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart
was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and
upon Judah and Jerusalem.

Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride
of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
so that the wrath of the Lord came not upon them in the
days of Hezekiah.

Job 35:12,13 There they cry, but none giveth answer,
because of the pride of evil men.

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the
Almighty regard it.

Job 37:24 Men do therefore fear Him: He respected not
any that are wise of heart.

Psalm 119:21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are
cursed, which do err from Thy commandments.

Proverbs 6:16,17,18,19 These six things doth the Lord
hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed
innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that
be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth
discord among brethren.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward
mouth, do I hate.

with the lowly is wisdom.

the well advised is wisdom.

abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand,
he shall not be unpunished.

Proverbs 16:18,19 Pride goeth before destruction, and
an haughty spirit before a fall.

Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly,
than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Proverbs 28:25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up
strife: but he that putteth his trust in the Lord
shall be made fat.

Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but
honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Isaiah 2:11,12 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the
Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one
that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is
lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

Isaiah 2:17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down,
and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the
Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

Isaiah 3:16 Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters
of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks
and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making
a tinkling with their feet:

Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the
head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover
their secret parts.

Isaiah 5:15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and
the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the
lofty shall be humbled:

Isaiah 13:11,12 And I will punish the world for their
evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will
cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will
lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even
a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

Isaiah 23:9 The Lord of hosts hath purposed it, to stain
the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all
the honourable of the earth.

Isaiah 28:3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim,
shall be trodden under feet:

Isaiah 28:4,5 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards
of Ephraim, shall be trodden under:

And the glorious beauty which is on the head of the fat
valley, shall be a fading flower; and as the hasty fruit
before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it
seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eatheth it up.

Jeremiah 9:23,24 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise
man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man
glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his
riches:

But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he
understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the Lord
which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and
righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I
delight, saith the Lord.

Jeremiah 13:17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul
shall weep in secret places for your pride; and
mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears,
because the Lord's flock is carried away captive.

Ezekiel 16:15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty,
and playedst the harlot beccause of thy renown, and
pouredst out thy fornication on every one that passed
by his it was.

Ezekiel 16:50 And they were haughty, and committed
abomination before Me: therefore I took them away
as I saw good.

Obadiah 1:4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle,
and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence
will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

Habakkuk 2:4,5 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is
not upright in him: but the just shall live by his
faith.

Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a
proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his
desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be
satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and
heapeth unto him all people:

Zephaniah 2:9,10 Therefore as I live, saith the Lord
of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even
the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil
them, and the remnant of My people shall possess them.

This shall they have for their pride, because they have
reproached and magnified themselves against the people
of the Lord of hosts.

Luke 1:51 He heath shewed strength with his arm; he
hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their
hearts.

I Corinthians 4:6,7 And these things, brethren, I have
in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for
your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think
of men above that which is written, that no one of
you be puffed up for one against another.

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what
hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou
didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou
hadst not received it?

I Corinthians 5:6,7,8 Your glorying is not good. Know
ye not that a little leaven leaventh the whole lump?

Purge out therefore the old leaven. that ye may be a
new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our
passover is sacrificed for us.

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven,
neiher with th leaven of malice and wickedness; but
with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he
standeth take heed lest he fall.

I Peter 5:5,6,7 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves
unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another,
and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the
proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that He may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
